Donald Trump will usher in a new era of politics when he is sworn in as the 45th president of the US today.
His presidency will also bring an unprecedented level of security for the commander-in-chief, starting with a luxurious armoured limousine nicknamed 'The Beast
Trump's new 'Cadillac One' presidential state car is reportedly equipped with a number of defence systems, including tear gas cannon at the rear bumper and a shotgun inside the passenger compartment.
The $1.5m (£1.2m) car is built to withstand an attack, featuring doors and windows which can repel armour piercing bullets, and is reportedly stocked with bottles of the president's blood type in case he is injured.
It was unclear whether the new 'Cadillac One' will make its long-awaited debut at Friday's inaugural parade from Capitol Hill to the White House in Washington, DC, as there were conflicting reports
It's a short trip along Pennsylvania Avenue, but the motorcade will travel at a snail's pace and the route is called the 'two-mile nightmare' by the Secret Service.
Weaponry
The new seven-seater limousine is loaded with weaponry in case of an attack.
Tear gas cannon are located within the rear bumper to debilitate anyone pursuing the car.
The president will always be accompanied by armed Secret Service members in a motorcade, but the car reportedly has a pump-action shotgun inside at all times
Armour plating
'The Beast' has a bullet-proof exterior with military-grade armour up to 8in thick, and is sealed to withstand biological and chemical attacks.
The undercarriage has protection from roadside bombs, the New York Post reports.
The diesel fuel tank is bullet and blast-proof, and the laminated windows are made from toughened glass and are several inches thick.
The armoured doors are so heavy that they are almost physically impossible to open from the inside, and only the driver's side window can open.
Run flat tyres will maintain their structural integrity if they are punctured thanks to a solid core, the Times reports
Blood supplies
The one-of-a-kind car carries stocks of the president's blood type.
It also has oxygen tanks in case of a gas attack.
Also on board is a life support machine to help anyone who is critically injured.
Armed guards
Armed Secret Service members travel in the car with the president, while 'The Beast' is also accompanied by a number of support vehicles carrying extra guards.
The president's car is driven by a highly-skilled driver who is trained in a number of anti-terror and protective manoeuvres to keep the president safe.
Communications equipment
'Cadillac One' is fitted with a state-of-the-art and secure communications system that Trump will be able to use to conduct regular business or even oversee an emergency when he is on the move from the White House or Air Force One.
Why is Trump getting a new limo?
The 2017 Cadillac has been in development for more than two years and will replace a fleet of around a dozen nearly identical limousines that were used by outgoing President Barack Obama , Autoweek reports.
