British military intelligence experts have warned the Army is powerless to defend against Russia's new 'missile-proof' tank.
The Kremlin's new deadly Armata tank has been described by experts as a "sensation" that will revolutionise warfare.
Intelligence agents are so worried about the threat posed by the tank they wrote an MoD internal briefing paper about it.
The tank, first unveiled as a prototype in a military parade last year, offers much-improved protection for turret crews.
It is also faster than any other Western rivals and will be kitted with a radar system currently used by Russian fighter jets.
The five-page briefing report said it represents "the most revolutionary step change in tank design in the last half century."
Intelligence chiefs added: "Armata certainly deserves its billing as the most revolutionary tank in a generation."
The report questions why the Government has no plans for a rival tank for at least 20 years.
NATO chiefs are worried that a US presidential victory for Donald Trump could leave the West vulnerable to Russian aggression.
Russia plans to build 120 Armata tanks every year from 2018, adding to its fleet of 2,500 - 35 times the size of the fleet in the British Army.
Experts believe NATO states Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania would be overrun by Russian tanks within 60 hours of an invasion.
The document warns that the new tank is crucial in Putin's expansionist aims as he continues to be a threat to the countries surrounding Russia's borders.
It also asses the Russian tank's potential weapons and equipment and claims it could far exceed any current Nato offerings.
It says: "For the first time, a fully automated, digitalised, unmanned turret has been incorporated into a main battle tank. And for the first time a tank crew is embedded within an armoured capsule in the hull front."
