"Utter nonsense": Strictly Come Dancing 'fix' claims rebuked by BBC insider following Melvin Odoom's controversial exit

Melvin speaks out after Anastacia drama

Claims that Strictly Come Dancing is "fixed" and "racist" have been branded "utter nonsense" from a BBC insider.

On Sunday night the BBC One show was plunged into chaos after pop singerAnastacia was allowed to stay in the competition, despite refusing to face the Melvin Odoom in a dance-off following an injury.
The show faced a strong viewer backlash over the KISS 100 presenter's controversial exit, as fans took to Twitter accusing Strictly of being fixed, with one saying it was a "complete disgrace".
A BBC insider has rubbished the claims of any wongdoing.
Speaking to Mirror Online, a Strictly said: "To suggest there is any kind of fix is utter nonsense, there is no evidence to back up this claim whatsoever.
"Nor is there any reason at all for there to be a so called fix, it would be of no benefit to anyone."
Melvin Odoom and Janette Manrara are voted off in the public vote
Following the claims that Melvin should not have been axed, BBC issued a statement.
A BBC spokesperson said: "There was no Dance Off this weekend due to a confirmed injury. As per the Strictly Come Dancing rules if the Dance Off cannot go ahead then the result reverts to the viewer vote."
Meanwhile, taking to social media after the live elimination, the Melvin had nothing but praise for the show.
He wrote: "I have really enjoy my @bbcstrictly experience ....I have had so much fun and want to thank everyone for their support! #teamjboom."
Melvin later added: "It was unexpected but I care about the people before everything else, I love Anastacia I think she’s a great woman, she’s a great role model and her health comes first before everything else. As much as this is a great show and competition, her health comes first; it’s the way it is."
Viewers however have been less than impressed, taking to Twitter to say it was "so unfair", tweeting: " Anastacia should've gone out of strictly... she was the one with the injury but instead Melvin got sent out; so unfair!!"
While another added: "Called #Strictly result for tonight correctly because it's so fixed and blatantly racist I'll never watch it again"
Anastacia on verge of tears on Strictly Come Dancing
One female viewer said: "I say this every year, the early voting on Strictly is straight up racist."
Another asked: "This is a bit racist, no?"
While another didn't share the sentiment but was still angry with the result: "I don't think that's right, it weren't Melvin's fault that he couldn't compete in dance off. Not racist but very wrong."
