Harry Potter star Devon Murray has revealed he contemplated committing suicide earlier this year during what was the “worst time of my life”.

Devon, who famously played Seamus Finnigan in all eight films, said his depression was so bad that he threw a rope over a bannister while cleaning out his horse stables and was “pretty much getting ready to hang myself”.
The actor, 27, even said a childhood away from his family led to the crippling depression.
Devon revealed how he remembered feeling very down whilst being on his own in a hotel room on his 16th birthday, the Irish Mirror reports.
The decision to speak out on his battle with depression came just five months after the High Court ordered the actor and his parents to pay £234,269 in unpaid commission to his former agent.
Devon’s mother Fidelma Murray claimed during the case that he’d spent much of his one million euro earnings and “gone out drinking, taken out girls and bought cars, because that is what teenage boys do”.
The actor revealed earlier this year he was a “mess” as his family were going through “some difficult times” and it was the “worst time of my life”.
Devon said his depression was so bad in April he threw a rope over a bannister while cleaning out his horse stables and was “pretty much getting ready to hang myself”.
He added: “I felt like I had let down my parents, I felt like I couldn’t do anything right.
“I was pointless, I was just a disaster,” he told RTÉ 2fm’s Eoghan McDermott.
“And then come April, I had to stand in the barn and I had to clean out all of the horses stables.
“I’d turn them out onto the arena, I’d turn them out onto the fields and I had a laundering rope.
“And I threw it over one of the bannisters in the barn and I was pretty much getting ready to hang myself.”
So I text my mam and my dad and I can’t remember exactly what I said to them but it was me asking them for help without me actually asking for help.”
Devon said his concerned mum and dad were texting him and calling him straight away.
Last week Devon announced on Twitter he had been battling depression for over 10 years.
He added: People have always said, ‘Oh you’re in Harry Potter, you’ve got the best life in the world’.

Where in a sense I had an amazing life, I had a fantastic life, but I also had to give up so much.
I had to live in the UK for pretty much 11 years, away from my father, away from my school friends, away from just going to school and having my horses.”
Devon said he is now in a “much better” place and is happy to “talk about everything”.
He added: “Harry Potter was the best thing in my life but in a sense it kind of turned into some of the worst times of my life.
“So now I’m in a good place I want to get back into the saddle again and get out acting and just be me again and do what I love.”
