Move over Mourinho; according to the experts at eH Labs, Watford’s Walter Mazzarri should be managing Manchester United.
Our matching team turned their attention away from romantic connections to tackle workplace compatibility, and conducted an experiment to reveal which Premier League managers are the most compatible with their teams based on 13 key personality traits.
And the result? Well, we found that six of the Premier League’s football managers are fundamentally incompatible with their teams!
Our research found that Mourinho and Manchester United are definitely not a match made in heaven. It’s hardly surprising; Mourinho is not someone who shies away from conflict and is happy to cause arguments whereas the average Man U player is not quite so hot-headed. Mourinho is also a lot less trusting than his players, so he’ll be keen for the squad to follow a specific plan without deviation, which is sure to cause tension with players who like to go with the flow.
Claude Puel is also likely to clash with Southampton this season. The squad and their manager have significant differences in integrity, extroversion and emotional stability. Southampton’s players are typically very honest and like playing by the rules, while their manager isn’t averse to bending the rules when necessary. He’s also an extroverted character who likes a lot ofcommunication, in contrast to the average Southampton player who is a little more shy and reserved
