Wayne Rooney absent from Manchester United squad for Europa League clash with Feyenoord

Manchester United's Wayne Rooney during training

Wayne Rooney has not travelled with Manchester United to Holland for their Europa League tie with Feyenoord.

According to United's official website, boss Jose Mourinho has taken a 20-strong squad to Rotterdam that does not include skipper Rooney.
Rooney trained with the United squad at the AON Training Complex this morning, as 23 players worked out before flying to the Netherlands for tomorrow's tie.
Also not included in the travelling party are defender Antonio Valencia and midfielder Jesse Lingard, both of whom who took part in the morning session.
No official reason has been given for Rooney's absence, but Mourinho insisted after the 2-1 derby defeat to Manchester City that he would make signficant changes.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has a thigh injury, did not train, neither did Phil Jones, who has an unspecified problem.
Luke Shaw trained, but has not travelled after complaining of a tight hamstring in United's derby defeat on Saturday.
