EuroMillions: National Lottery website 'crashing' as millions try to buy tickets ahead of £136m jackpot

EuroMillions celebration

Lottery hopefuls wanting to nab tonight's huge £136million jackpot are furious as the website keeps crashing.

Tonight's EuroMillions jackpot stands at a staggering £136million.
But people have branded Camelot a "shambles" after thousands have been left unable to grab a last-minute ticket for the drawer.
Jeremy Woodrow wrote on Twitter: "National Lottery website is a shambles #noeuromillions".
In reply to furious tweets National Lottery wrote: "It is currently peak time for Ticket purchasing therefore our website will be a little slower than normal."
If there was a single UK winner tonight they would instantly become the country's third biggest ever - and richer than the four members of One Direction combined.
As well as the giant jackpot, EuroMillions now makes two guaranteed UK millionaires in each and every draw.
That is a minimum of 208 millionaires made on these shores, not including the giant jackpot winners and winners of money can’t buy prizes during EuroMillions Mega Weeks at the end of each month.
The jackpot for tonight has reached astronomical levels after it failed to go on Tuesday.

A win of this magnitude would place you firmly at the top end of the lottery rich list.
If no-one matches all five main numbers and two Lucky Star numbers to win the jackpot, then it will roll to the following Tuesday’s draw on October 11.

What's the record prize?

If you win tonight you'd be in third place, just behind Colin and Chris Weir, who bagged £161m in 2011, and Adrian and Gillian Bayford, who pocketed a cool £148m in 2012.

What time is the draw?

The draw itself will be made at 7.45pm, but the results will be available at 10.30pm on the National Lottery website, as well as Mirror.co.uk.

What could I do with the money if I win?

You would be able to take your pick in the luxury car – and maybe even splash out on a chauffeur to drive your pride and joy.
A flight around the world wouldn't be too much of a stretch with your win.
few other goodies you could buy with your win include
  • 132,752 of the latest top of the range iPhone, the 7 Plus
  • 12,201 Sony Bravia TVs with 4K technology.
  • 32,677 sailings on the Queen Mary 2 from Southampton to New York and back in a balcony room.
  • 488,000,000 Freddos at today's price of 25p each.

Last year saw a record-setting nine EuroMillions jackpots won in the UK, and with eight already in the bag, 2016 is looking to push that record even higher.
This year has already seen the Davies Family from Monmouthshire win £61M in July, as well as anonymous winners picking up prizes including £51M, £34M and two lots of £24M
According to The Sunday Times Rich List 2016, if one winner scooped the entire £136 million jackpot they would be ranked joint 752nd richest person in Britain just ahead of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne (£135M), and also ahead of Amal and George Clooney (£125M) and George Michael (£105M).
They would have a fortune above that of Lewis Hamilton (£106M), Wayne and Colleen Rooney (£96M) and Rory McIlroy (£56M). The four member of One Direction: Niall, Liam, Harry and Louis are estimated to be worth £33M each.
Andy Carter, The National Lottery’s Senior Winners’ Adviser said, “National Lottery players across the country should get their tickets early in order to be in with a chance of winning this life changing jackpot.
"It is looking like it will be another record-breaking year for EuroMillions and I can’t wait to meet another giant UK winner. Needless to say the Champagne is on ice and giant cheque at the ready to celebrate an extraordinary win.
“EuroMillions players help raise the £36M plus that National Lottery players give to Good Causes each and every week.
"This helps projects big and small across the country, including helping to fund the nation’s amazing Olympic and Paralympic success.”
